Resettable current fuses (PPTC)
PPTCs are known by the trade names PolySwitch or Multifuse. PPTC stands for “Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient.” PPTCs are the perfect solution for providing multiple, high-performance overcurrent protection for circuits. If the maximum permissible current is exceeded, the PPTC heats up and rapidly becomes highly resistive, thereby limiting the current to well below the normal operating current.
Unlike conventional fuses, the polymer PTC returns to its original state after cooling. Thanks to their properties, polymer PTCs are a cost-effective solution for short-circuit protection and overload protection applications.
